What is Svaroopa® Yoga?

Svaroopa® Yoga is a technique for opening your body to find your Self . It has a radically different approach than most modern styles of yoga and can give you a new way to think about asana practice. The practice creates a core opening by releasing the tensions in the deepest layers of your body. Dissolving these tensions allows you to live with ease, both in your body and in your deeper self. That ease is your birthright. This all happens without sweat or strain because Svaroopa® Yoga is not exercise but a scientific maximization of the body’s natural capacities. When practicing Svaroopa® Yoga, we delve into our body as if opening a precious gift carefully wrapped in many layers.

What can I expect from a yoga class?

You can expect to lie down on some warm and cozy blankets with your legs extended over a blanket roll to ensure your back is well supported and flat on the floor. Experience a guided awareness that will help you let go of the day’s events and become present in the body. You will then be guided into Ujjayi Pranayama, a breathing technique that will help you to enter the deep consciousness of self, while allowing the body to rest & heal as you focus your mind on the sound of the breath. Ujjayi is followed by a series of very specific poses in precise alignment to release core tensions in the spin Starting at the tailbone and sequencing the release up the spine.

What is the difference between the levels of classes?

Every class has a specific theme. For example, in the Daily Practice Theme you will learn very gentle poses in a simple sequence that will open the body and give you the tools for a home practice. You will learn the magic 4 poses in this theme. It is recommended that you do the magic 4 daily to sustain the opening of the body. The Lower Spinal Release Theme – Using different angles of the legs to release tensions in the muscles spanning from the legs through the hips and into the lower spine, Spinal Flexibility Theme- Use specific poses to identify areas of the spine that are tight.

There are twelve themes in all, each theme building on the prior one, opening and releasing layers of tension in the body while deepening the experience.

What is Embodyment® Therapy?

Embodyment® yoga therapy utilizes gentle touch and healing awareness to help you enter a state of deep relaxation and recuperation as you lie in a comfortable yoga posture. The session helps you reunite with your body to release tensions built up over a day or a lifetime. It calls upon your own natural healing powers to free the body of emotional scars, recover its natural alignment and ease of movement, and gain relief from chronic pain.

Embodyment® therapy gives you all of the benefits of a Svaroopa® yoga class or practice, with exponentially more consistent, deep and directly effective results. It has been said that one Embodyment® Session offers the equivalent physical and psycho-emotional benefits of taking 6-8 yoga classes.
